Update on the course conditions for Race 4 of the 2021 season at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday 15th January 2022 from the host club Thames Valley Harriers.

The course at Wormwood Scrubs is extremely muddy, the worst that I have seen it for many years and although the weather forecast is good from now until Saturday it won’t make much difference in 4 days. There is very little respite from thick mud anywhere on the course. The ground will cut up just as badly as at Horsenden Hill for the Middlesex County races on 8th January, where it hasn’t done so already. The approach to the start/finish area is also particularly muddy. It would be advisable to tape up your spikes.

The main areas where the ground is better is the football pitches that we run alongside (we can no longer run through the wooded area as the entrance has been taken by HS2), the course areas alongside the pitches will be taped off; we cannot run on the football pitches at any time, warming up or during races, please advise your athletes. If the pitches get churned up it is unlikely that we will be allowed to use Wormwood Scrubs for future races and we have another two events planned this season.
