Refreshments

Refreshments are available for purchase in the Trent Park café which is near to the Start/Finish area. In addition, the Wildlife Rescue & Ambulance Service (Enfield), located at the eastern end of the access road known as Lime Avenue (approx. 600 metres from the Start/Finish area), has a tea shop which is open until 4 pm.

Additional Notes

A Club/Team Assembly Area has been identified in the field adjacent to the Start area. This is in the area to the south of Lime Avenue and close to the pond. Please see map attached. Please note that the area shown hatched in red must be kept clear.

Where possible, please use public transport, walk or cycle. If travelling by car, please car share to reduce the impact and check for restrictions that may be in effect in the area (Ultra Low Emission Zone for example). Please also park with consideration of others.

Public Transport

Details

London Underground – Cockfosters station is the northern end of the Piccadilly Line.

Use of public transport is strongly recommended due to the proximity of the underground station and limited car parking at Trent Park.

Direction

The station is 300 metres to the south of the Cockfosters Road entrance to Trent Park (approximately a 5-minute walk). Turn right out of the station, and walk north along Cockfosters Road, past the BP Garage (with M&S).

Parking

Details

Parking is available within Trent Park but is likely to be very limited. Given the proximity of Trent Park to Cockfosters underground station, use of public transport is therefore strongly recommended. If you intend to drive, please car-share as much as possible.

The main car parking facility is at the Cockfosters Road entrance to Trent Park.

PLEASE NOTE: The private car park close to the Southgate Hockey Centre at the top of Snakes Lane is NOT available. Please do not attempt to park there – you WILL be turned back.

Cars must not be parked on any of the roads within Trent Park.

Trent Park closes at sunset, which will be at approximately 17:00. The gate at the Cockfosters Road entrance is usually closed at this time, but drivers must take care to check the closing time which will be shown on the sign inside the main entrance.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD DRIVERS PARK ON THE SURROUNDING ROADS. Anyone parking in local roads will risk damaging our ability to hold future events at this venue.

Cockfosters Road (A111) entrance; approximately two miles to the south of Junction 24 of the M25, on the left-hand side, or just over half a mile to the north of the junction of the A111 and A110 (Bramley Road), on the right-hand side (sat nav EN4 0JZ).

Course details

Course Description

Undulating course on open, rough, lumpy parkland. Liable to be soft underfoot in places. Some exposed tree roots in places, and several small wooden bridges that could be slippery.

Senior races only include a woodland path with a small stream crossing.

The course is suitable for spikes or trail shoes.

The course is likely to be very muddy and slippery in some places so is not suitable for ordinary trainers.

U11 course

One-half lap and one full lap of Start/Finish Field. Approximately 1,800 metres

U13 course

Approx. ¾ lap of the Start/Finish Field Dropping Down the Hill from the Gap to do Half of the Oakwood Lap & Returning to the Finish. Approximately 3,000 metres.

U15/U17 course

One full lap of the Start/Finish Field, followed by approx. ¾ lap of the Start/Finish Field, dropping down the hill from the gap to do half of the Oakwood Lap & returning to the Finish. Approximately 4,000 metres.

Senior course

1 ¾ laps of the Start/Finish Field Dropping Down the Hill from the Gap to Run One Lap of the Oakwood Side & Returning to the Start/Finish Field. One Further Complete lap of the Start/Finish Field, Dropping Down the Hill from the Gap to Run One Further Lap of the Oakwood Side & Returning to the Finish. Approximately 7,800 metres.

Directions: Leave Trent Park by the main Cockfosters Road entrance and turn left down Cockfosters Road back towards the Underground station. Just after the BP Garage (with M&S), turn right down Chalk Lane. The Scout Hut is approximately 50 metres along the road on the left-hand side (see map).

Please note there is no car parking at this venue.

Please also note that the Scout Hut is quite small so there is limited space available.

Polite Request; the Scout Hut has a wooden parquet floor so muddy shoes must be taken off and left at the entrance

COVID Guidelines

Although official restrictions have been lifted, there are still many people still suffering from the virus.

Please DO NOT TRAVEL to this event if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19 as defined by the NHS or if you have had a positive test.

COMPETITORS try to remain socially distanced at all times whilst at the event, in particular, when in the toilets or when queuing at the kiosk or café.  Also try to keep your distance, as far as possible, at the start and finish.

SPECTATORS are encouraged to keep their distance from the competitors, especially when calling out for encouragement.

All try to AVOID PHYSICAL CONTACT with runners, race officials, volunteers and spectators including high fives and hugs etc.

When using the toilets remember to WASH YOUR HANDS thoroughly.

You are also reminded to catch COUGHS AND SNEEZES and to avoid touching face, eyes, nose or mouth with unclean hands.

It is not practical to provide sanitising stations around the park, so DO NOT UNECESSARILY TOUCH OUTDOOR SURFACES, and perhaps bring some sanitiser to use after touching anything.

If you experience COVID-19 symptoms soon after the race, then please follow NHS guidance regarding testing and self-isolation, also please inform the Race Organiser.

UKA Anti-Doping Rules

All entrants shall be deemed to have made him/herself familiar with, and agreed to be bound by the UKA Anti-Doping Rules and to submit to the authority of UK Anti-Doping in the application and enforcement of the Anti-Doping Rules.

Welwyn Garden City Station (Main Line) 1¼ mile from the Park

Direction

Walking – exit from the Station through the front entrance of the Howard Centre. Walk directly ahead along Howardsgate towards the fountain. Turn left into Parkway at the end of Howardsgate.  Walk along Parkway for approximately ½ mile to the end (roundabout at Gosling Sports Park).  Turn right and walk along Stanborough Green for approximately ½ mile until you reach the Park (on your right).

There are some cycle racks at the north end of the North car park adjacent to the amenity area.

Driving

Directions  

Leave the A1(M) at Junction 4, (after the Hatfield Tunnel).  At the roundabout take the second exit to A414/A6129.  At the next roundabout take the first exit A6129.  At the bottom of the dual carriageway take the second exit out of the roundabout.  The entrance to the car park on the north side is on your left after around 100m. The entrance to the car park on the south side is more or less opposite but you cannot gain access from the left side of the carriageway.

As early arrivers will undoubtedly fill the car park on the north side, you may be advised to go straight to the one on the south side.

Parking

Details

There is a fairly large car park on the north side of the Park, adjacent to the course.

There is a very large car park on the south side of the Park, 5 minutes walk to the course.

These car parks are camera operated and you must pay or you may incur a fine. You can pay at a meter by card.  However, payment does not have to be immediate

We have not been able to negotiate a reduced rate.

Direction

There is a footpath under the road bridge, providing traffic-free access between the South Side and the North Side of the Park.

Additional Notes

Access to both of these car parks is only permitted from the adjacent side of the carriageway.  If you cannot find a space on the north side, to get to the south side you must drive to the roundabout at the top of the hill and return on the other side of the carriageway.

Course details

Description

The start and finish are in grassed parkland.  The remainder is an undulating parkland course with two short woodland sections, all being suitable for spikes.

The Senior course, which includes a short steep hill, has a narrow section about ½ mile from the start, which will probably slow runners on the opening lap of the Men’s race.

U11 course

1 small lap of 1,700m.

Undulating parkland with two short woodland sections.

U13 course

2 laps - one smaller loop followed by one longer loop - 3,000m overall.

Undulating parkland with two short woodland sections per lap.

U15/U17 course

2 large laps, each with a short internal loop - 4,200m overall.

Undulating parkland with two short woodland sections per lap.

Senior course

3 large laps, each with a long internal loop - 7,800m overall.

Generally undulating parkland, with two short woodland sections on each longer loop and a short steep climb and then descent on each of the shorter loops.

We will be using the Start/Finish and Course that we used in 2021.  Course maps are included with this notice and these will also be posted on notice boards on the day.

The course is likely to be very slippery, so you are strongly advised to wear suitable footwear.

The course passes in both directions adjacent to the Start/Finish area.  This will therefore be congested and we ask all spectators to keep clear of this corner.

Please note that the U11 Boys race will start 2 minutes later than at the previous meetings to avoid any clash with the start of U11 Girls race.

All clubs should arrive before the start of the meeting (12:00) in order for numbers to be distributed to each club.

To be eligible to score, competitors must compete in the correct race for their age group.  

Competitors in the Under 13 race must be 11 or over on the day of competition.

Description

A PROPER XC COURSE. Parkland setting, undulating course, with one steep climb per lap, on grass and woodland paths. Very muddy areas likely. Option of small river crossing for adults only if conditions on the day allow. There will be a longer route around the river for those that are unable/unwilling to cross the river.

East Acton on the Central Line is the closest station, a few minutes' walk from the stadium, turn right out of the station and follow the road up to Wormwood Scrubs. Buses stop on DuCane Rd, please see details for buses stopping at Hammersmith Hospital on the Transport for London website, Artillery Lane between the hospitals and prison takes you to Wormwood Scrubs.

Parking

Details

Parking at the venue is far more limited than in previous years when we had the additional use of hospitals staff car park for events at weekends. This is no longer possible with the introduction of weekend parking charges of £2.20 per hour in the Wormwood Scrubs Charitable Trust car park next to the course. Parking is free at weekends in surrounding residential streets near Wormwood Scrubs park but very limited and primarily for the use of local residents.

U13 course

1 lap approx 3km to the far corner of the park by Braybrook St, alongside Old Oak HS2 development, around football pitches and the perimeter of the park to the finish.

1 lap approx 3.8km around the perimeter of the park, cutting in around copse running back around football pitches and perimeter of the park to the finish.

Senior course

2 laps of the U15/U17 course approx 7.6km
